She is fluent in Greek, English, and Russian.

In 2009, she completed her clinical internship at the Nicosia General Hospital. Following that, she worked as a Field Researcher on the project “Respiratory Diseases and the Environment”, conducted by the Cyprus International Institute for the Environment and Public Health, in collaboration with the Harvard School of Public Health.

Since 2010, Dr. Markitani has been teaching subjects related to her field of specialization. In 2013, she joined Bupa Global Medical Insurance as a Medical Advisor, providing expert consultation in international health insurance. In 2018, she became a part of the Astras Oncology Network, where she holds the position of Senior Associate Doctor.

In April 2020, she contributed to the scientific publication Pharmacogenomic Testing to Guide Personalized Cancer Medicine Decisions in Private Oncology Practice: A Case Study. She is also a Certified Trainer by the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus (ΑνΑΔ), delivering professional training in the field of Health and Medical Practice.
